NBA’s Stephen Jackson World’s Greatest Basketball Coach: Ice Bucket


This is great to see. Captain Jack gets a lot of bad pub. Some his fault. But this is a lowkey basketball camp that he clearly has a passion for. I love that kids of all ages are on the same court. That’s how you get better. Playing player better than you. Plus, it teaches the better kids how to perform even against lesser competition. They can also try new moves out lol. This is awesome. Too often you see celebs advertise their charity work. Making it seems very disingenuous. Salute to you Stephen Jackson

Chad Jones “Always A Fire”


Mini documentary on former LSU & NY Giants safety who was in a car accident before he ever got a chance to take the field. He’s on an epic road to recovery and hopes to return to the field in 2013. One of my favorites coming into the 2010 draft. I hope he can make it back. The giants kept him on the roster for 2 seasons which in this day and age is incredible. Means all of his medical expenses and rehab should have been covered until they cut him. AND he picked up salary. Very inspirational.

Alert. Cuz I’m dumb I’m skipping to the 2nd half. I missed the beginning and I couldnt find the proper link to stream it.

Once I finally go it on the effn Spanish team was up by 2 and playing tough. I didn’t think their post presence was gonna be as much of a factor as it was. I mean, sure, we are pretty undersized but think about Miami’s small ball lineup that won the NBA title. Spain was smart they fouled early to prevent as many fast break opportunities as possible. Shit, even times when we didn’t have a great advantage they still fouled. Trying to keep in the half court. Marc Gasol had four fouls in the 3rd so he sat for a long while. But Pau had 15 straight points for Spain so it’s not like they were at a disadvantage. As usual the US relied on our up & down three point shooting. Durant was on fire. And Lebron continued his stellar SUPERGODPOINTFOWARDCENTER role. Rebounding. Facilitating. Defending bigs. Hitting 3’s. Ibaka was extremely under utilized during the entire olympic tournament. The US guard prevented the spanish guards for gettin into any rhythm. They did not hit a single 3 ptr the entire 2nd half. Which which seriously hindered their ability to get any significant lead. I’m certain if they had hit a fair percentage, they might’ve pulled the upset. They were back and forth until they could hit a shot. Then Lebron scored a quick 5 PTs on a dunk and step back trey. Which took a 4 pt lead to a 9pt lead. Durant nailed a couple 3’s and the game was sealed. The Spanish team cut the lead to 6 against the reserves in the final 30 seconds but it was just cosmetic. Plus Harden managed to miss 3 straight FTs to help the cause.

UFC 150: recap

Holloway v Lawrence
This was the first fight of the PPV. I missed most of if. But tuned-in in time for the KO. Holloway let loose a bunch of knees and punches. Lawrence couldn’t defend himself. Stoppage late 2nd rd TKO.

Okami v Roberts
Okami was the replacement fighter and boy did he show his skill. Roberts was comfortable on his feet but Okami took it to the ground where he was dominated. Okami quickly got full mount and Roberts decided to give him his back and shell up. Okami was bombs away till the end of the round. If there had been 5-10 more seconds ref Herb Dean def woulda called it. Once the 2nd round started the exact same thing happened. And this time Herb Dean called the fight. Roberts was shelled up with Okami on his back taking bombs. Good fight for Okami

Shields v Herman
Shields is a boring fighter who can’t finish in the UFC. He’s won 3 fights one of which he should’ve lost. And they’ve all been boring decisions. It’s ok to be skillful and have a high work rate for for an entire fight. But shields just takes you down and grinds you. Tires you out and does just enough to win the round. He’ll never be a main attraction or title holder. He won this fight via UD. I had better things to do than watch this.

Guillard vs Cerrone
THIS is what I had been waiting for. Melvin Guillard is one of my favorites and this fight was sure to be exciting. Cerrone will stand and throw em with power! And they were all action from the jump. Early Guillard ducked a hook from Cerrone and countered with his own. Knocked Cerrone down. Guillard expended a bunch of energy trying to finish and couldn’t quite do it. After they reset Cerrone feinted a punch, Guillard using his boxing ducked. As he did so he was met by Cerrone’s high kick. Guillard wobbled but stayed up. Not for long. Cerrone fired a straight right BAM. KO!!! Just like that. Cerrone 1st rd KO. Fight of the night and KO of the night.

Henderson vs Edgar
5 rd fight for the championship.
Henderson started this fight the way he dominated the 1st one. Leg kick after leg kick after leg kick. In the 2nd Edgar caught Henderson with a right that dropped him. He tried to lock in a guillotine. Which was unsuccessful. And Henderson used that to get his bearing back. He lucked out cuz he was in trouble. 3rd rd comes around And Henderson seemed to have abandoned his leg kicks. Not smart. They had a lot of back and forth exchanges from 3-5. Nothing too spectacular but it was very constant action. Edgar kept trying unsuccessfully for guillotines and Henderson was landing random and sometimes shots. I thought Edgar controlled the fight and clearly won. But Henderson was given a the split decision victory. Edgar was PISSED! Rightfully so. But I’d like to say it wasn’t the worst decision ever. But I had it for Edgar

UFC 150 was a good one. Next up 151 where Jon Jones defends the light heavyweight title.

México wins The Gold in Fútbol

Mexico scored a goal within 30s of the start of the game! Holy fuck. A nameless idiot Brasil defender held the ball for no reason then made a lazy pass that was stolen and passed ahead. Then Peralta hit a sweet shot to the near post to open the scoring. For most of the game Mexico sagged back and played a defensive counter attack style. With their best offensive player out (Giovanni Dos Santos, whose half Brazilian) I wasn’t mad. Neymar never got loose in the first half. They swarmed him at every touch. Brasil made a huge mistake in not playing the 55million dollar man Lucas. When he came in late, brasil’s attack instantly got more aggressive and they scored. The first half was mostly a bore. But the 2nd?! Brasil came out with a vengeance determined to score. Neymar started getting loose. Making moves, passes and taking shots only world class players are allowed to get away with. But alas Mexico’s defense held strong. They sagged back and crowded box on just about every effort by the Selecao. Hulk was being quite fancy and crafty with the rock but couldn’t close the deal. Even took an ambitious shot on a free kick. Then in the 75th minute, with Brasil’s offensive line up in, Mexico scored on a set piece. Peralta met a cross unmarked for his 2nd goal. Brasil pressed. Mexico BARELY missed a 3rd goal on spectacular half chilena on an open goal. Hit top post. Brasil pressed again with Pato and Lucas in. Hulk got a nice goal on a breakaway with his weak foot. Then on a cross in the final moments of extra time Oscar missed a WIDE OPEN header to seal the gold for Mexico. Great final.
