Karate Chop: the almost song of the year

Replacing Casino with Lil Wayne for a “remix” was 100% the label’s idea to get this song mad buzz. Bad idea for several reasons. Without Wayne this prolly coulda been the song of the year (it’s in my top 5 no fucking doubt. Maybe #1). They realized they had a hit and instead of running with it, they made the same mistake EVERY label makes. LET’S PUT A HOT ARTIST ON AS A FEATURE! Well in this case Wayne immediately KILLED the single and pushed Future’s album back. Due to his unsavory Emmet Till reference and the severe backlash that ensued. single DEAD. The radio is ONLY gonna play a verse or two once this got into constant rotation or in mixes. Casino’s verse would’ve rarely been heard by the public. It would’ve allowed Future to have a stand alone single that HE powered. Not a cut you forced him to play second fiddle on his own song cuz you wanted one of the biggest acts in hiphop drop a shitty ass verse on. Now it’s a mostly forgetten mixtape song that could’ve been a MAJOR smash. You label types don’t learn tho… I’m sorry Future Nayvadius Cash. You didn’t deserve this.

Last night saw Jarell Perry. @ Bootleg Theatre

We were a little late but so were the artists. We missed the first opener, whoever the fuck it was. The next opener was Skintown. I’m a fan. Saw em when they opened up for Tiny Hearts. (Tiny Hearts da best.) They’re a duo that consists of Grace Hall. A kinda pretty white with an amazing sultry voice and needs some polish on her stage act. And Nick Turco, a DJ/producer that worked with Zola Jesus. Their sound is sexy as fuck. Indie Electro Synth R&B. You def wanna fuck to their music. So of it is kinda raunchy. “Slidin” & “2nite” my favs. Get their The Room project HERE

Then the man Jarell Perry took the stage. I figured he’d either be really good or really bad. But he was really good. He pack the house. I know Bootleg Bar ain’t big but still. They came out for him. Pretty impressive. He did a decent cover of Hold On We’re Going Home. Then ruined it by doing the cover to the Ignition Remix beat. Nigga just do Ignition Remix. Anyway he was pretty good the entire time. Made some fat girl night by singing to her. He’s also a lot shorter than these pics will have you believe and he’s definitely a Curtis. But I’ll be seeing this guy again. And he need to hurry up with that White EP

My date also bought me a delicious Cherry Bomb. It’s a hard cider. I think she just wanted me to feel her up then take advantage of me. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 🙂
Great night

Come up get done up

I got death row’s greatest hits in 99. And it was amazing. Sure it had all the mega hits that had been all over the radio since I discovered hiphop in 92 (and one of the 2 songs that got me started). But I didn’t care. This was that heat. But it had a few gems I wasn’t as familiar with. This being one of them. Jodeci + Tha Dogg Pound = PURE FUCKING FILTH! And at the age of 12, I was all for it.
